The Seventeenth Edition IEE Wiring Regulations is the latest update on the 16th Edition Wiring Regulations.

All domestic and industrial electrical installations and wiring must conform to these regulations and, in order to align with European documents, the Seventeenth edition contains some substantial changes over the previous 16th edition of the wiring regulations.

This newest edition of the wiring regulations, identified by it's red cover, is produced and published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, otherwise known as The IET.

Any person who is involved in the installation, maintenance and / or design of electrical installations or wiring in buildings will be affected by the Seventeenth edition wiring regulations as would electrical engineers or students wishing to gain recognised electrical qualifications.

This most recent edition of the regulations will also be relevant to local authorities, surveyors, electricians, electrical contractors, consultants and architects as well as many other allied trades such as plumbers, kitchen fitters etc. Who may also be involved in electrical work.

What’s in the new Seventeenth Edition Wiring Regulations ?

Industrial and domestic wiring must now conform to the national standard IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671). The latest edition (the Seventeenth Edition) is now in print and available form leading book retailers and from the IEE themselves. You can purchase a copy of the Seventeen Edition here.

There are many significant changes to the technical content and structure of the latest wiring regulations edition, the most significant of which are summarised below:
